An Unforgettable Experience : SIH2022
“It won’t be merely another event. We are just one more step away. I believe in myself, I believe in my team and its spirits”, were my thoughts when we were just six hours away from the final round of the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon, 2022.
Our team’s name was webCrawlers.exe, and the spider in our logo aimed to weave the best of its net. It was already eighteen hours since my team and I started working on our problem statement. My teammates had just left the table to get some sleep, and I was in an inevitable tumult, which would not have stopped, had I chosen to sleep. So instead, I decided to stay and look for that one inspiration, that excitement and motivation, that could give this effort some meaning and a different dimension.
By late evening my team needed some rest. I, however, continued with the changes that I was ascribed to do in the project, before our next round of evaluation and by 5:00 am, I was done with them. The supervisor came in and wished all the teams a warm morning and informed us that the breakfast was ready. My fellow teammate was also by my side the whole night. Although she had a fair amount of sleep, her motivation kept me agile and working.
My teammates were all present at the desk at 9:00 a.m. Everybody had finished their breakfast. We discussed some issues I felt we had with the backend part of the project. Before our round two evaluation, we struggled to get the finer details done. The logistics were re-discussed, and the flow of the presentation was decided.
We went through the second round of evaluation. Again, I was firm and determined. Yes, I chose not to give up but live with this feeling of not losing anymore, living up to this situation, which I was responsible for being in, believing in the skills of my team, winning and celebrating with my dear friends and finally getting some good sleep.
Next, I knew that webCrawlers.exe as a team was being announced as the winner of SIH- 2022 and that I had the best sleep of my life, which was possible only because of my team and that spider, which decided to weave its best possible construct.
